Overview

Nicholas Boswell was awarded a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and subsequently, was admitted as a Solicitor in South Australia in 2008.

He is an experienced lawyer and worked for a number of years at small, medium and large sized law firms before moving into private practice in 2019.

He is the principal of Nicholas Boswell & Co Lawyers.

Areas of expertise

The scale and breadth of Nick’s Family Law works extends from straight forward divorces to divorces involving separation under the one roof; child support agreements; financial agreements and reaching agreements through negotiations, mediation, collaborative practice and through the Court process.

Nick is also experienced in other Court work including criminal law ranging from serious criminal offences involving significant penalties, to minor offences and a broad range of traffic law also ranging from serious offences to minor matters.

A growing area of law Nick is undertaking, relates to the Youth Court, along with Care and Protection Work. This work involves the Department for Child Protection and the removal children from families due to the Department’s safety and welfare concerns.

He is familiar with many different court jurisdictions including commercial disputes, regularly appearing in the Supreme and District Courts and Tribunals including SACAT – the South Australian Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

He has represented many injured workers in both the Workers Compensation Tribunal and the South Australian Employment Tribunal. He understands that many injured workers (and their families) depend on Nick’s advice being accurate and rely on his expertise in the preparation of their claims and in any settlement negotiations.

In addition to these many different court matters, Nick also practises in areas of law which revolve around other matters of concern for families, namely wills, powers of attorney, Advanced Care Directives, estate planning, the administration of deceased estates and acting in disputed estates.

Nick is also an experienced commercial lawyer, regularly assisting business owners with their commercial needs, including business succession; the acquisition and disposal of business interests; shareholder, unitholder and partnership agreements; commercial and retail leasing; business contracts and commercial conveyancing.

On property transactions he also regularly provides advice and sign’s certificates for a waiver of cooling off rights for real estate purchasers.

Nick has years of experience assisting clients to plan for their future and their family’s future.

As his career has progressed, Nick has built up a varied legal practice acting for both commercial and private clients. He is prepared to tackle virtually any legal problem if it will help his clients.

Recognition

Nick has studied at multiple Universities including Flinders University, Adelaide University, University of South Australia, Charles Darwin University and the Australian National University.

In 2002 he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and in 2006 a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).

Nick was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2008 and the High Court of Australia in 2019.
